establishes it’s first technology licencee and spin-off company in 2006 - HydroGen Power Industries Pty Ltd  [now restructured see below] ‘HydroGen’ receives a QSEIF Sustainable Industry grant to develop a a Submersive Generator and ‘Floating Laboratory’ to test tidal devices the institute’s licencee ‘HydroGen’ receives a second QSEIF Sustainable Industry grant to develop Tidal Desalination surveys tidal currents at Pt Kiwain in Torres Strait - peak flow over 6 knot - 6MW tidal energy resource the institute’s licencee ‘HydroGen’ obtains approvals from 17 govt & community organizations and a permit for tidal testing at Pt Kiwain EnGen Institute establishes a tidal test site in Whirlpool Reach in the Tamar Estuary in Tasmania EnGen Institute conducts feasibilty study for remote mining company - receives Letters of Intent for tidal power from 2 mining companies InfraTidal Pty Ltd established to manufacture and install modular containerised tidal stream power stations prepares for tidal stream product certification and construction of pilot tidal steam power station ’HydroGen’ renamed Torres Tidal Pty Ltd becoming our first regional tidal power station ‘project management and operating company’ EnGen Institute applies for use of historic teaching campus as Oceanographic Research Station - proposes Climate Research Station EnGen Institute identifies potential developement site with tidal power for a ‘totally sustainable town’ and pilot of ‘Future City’
